NBCUniversal Brings Peacock to YouTube Premium in Major Streaming Partnership
New Partnership Reflects the Next Phase of Streaming Distribution Through Bundling, Platform Integration, and Audience Expansion
LOS ANGELES — NBCUniversal has announced a landmark partnership with YouTube that will integrate Peacock directly into YouTube Premium subscriptions in the United States beginning in early 2027.
Under the agreement, eligible YouTube Premium subscribers will gain access to Peacock’s extensive library of entertainment without leaving the YouTube platform. Rather than launching a separate application, users will be able to discover and watch Peacock content directly within YouTube.
The partnership includes a wide range of NBCUniversal programming, including NBC Sports coverage of the NFL and NBA, Universal Pictures films such as the Minions franchise, Peacock Originals, Bravo programming including The Real Housewives, and hit reality series Love Island USA.
Matt Strauss, Chairman of NBCUniversal Media Group, described the agreement as a significant opportunity for Peacock’s future growth.
“The first principle for us was, does this accelerate Peacock’s long-term growth? And the answer to that is yes. Peacock will now be one of the largest domestic streamers. It's going to significantly expand our reach.”
The collaboration follows discussions that began approximately nine months ago after Comcast Co-CEO Brian Roberts contacted YouTube CEO Neal Mohan. Meetings between executives from both companies led to the development of a partnership focused on expanding content distribution and strengthening collaboration across streaming services.
The announcement comes as traditional media companies continue adapting to changing viewing habits. As consumers increasingly move away from traditional pay-TV bundles toward streaming platforms, media companies are exploring new ways to reach audiences through partnerships, bundled services, and platform integration.
Unlike many recent streaming bundles, this agreement goes a step further by embedding Peacock’s content directly inside YouTube. Viewers will not need to switch between applications to access Peacock programming, creating a more seamless viewing experience.
The partnership also gives Peacock greater visibility alongside YouTube’s creator ecosystem, allowing its television shows, films, sports programming, clips, and highlights to be discovered alongside creator-produced content.
According to YouTube, the platform now has more than 125 million global Premium subscribers. NBCUniversal recently reported that Peacock reached 48 million paying subscribers as of June 30 and achieved profitability for the first time during the most recent quarter.
Live sports remain a central component of the agreement. In addition to expanding access to NBC Sports programming, NBC Sports will also serve as a production partner for selected live sports broadcasts on YouTube, building on previous collaborations such as YouTube’s first live NFL game.
The agreement also extends NBCUniversal’s long-term distribution partnership with YouTube TV, while continuing distribution of YouTube, YouTube TV, and YouTube Premium across Comcast’s Xfinity and Xumo platforms.
In addition, both companies plan to deepen their advertising partnership, enabling NBCUniversal to further monetize Peacock content through YouTube’s advertising capabilities as advertising continues to play an increasingly important role in the streaming industry.
