‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Passes $50 Million in Ticket Presales Ahead of December Release
Disney reports strong advance demand for Marvel’s next Avengers film, with premium formats accounting for 70% of tickets sold.
Avengers: Doomsday has surpassed $50 million in advance ticket sales roughly three months before its December 18, 2026 theatrical release, according to TheWrap.
Disney’s chief financial officer, Hugh Johnston, announced the milestone at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference on September 9, pointing to strong audience interest in the next Avengers instalment.
Premium Formats Lead Advance Bookings
Disney says 70% of advance tickets sold have been for premium screenings carrying its Infinity Vision label.
The campaign directs audiences towards premium large-format screens outside IMAX. According to TheWrap, IMAX screens will be showing Dune: Part Three in December, making alternative premium formats a significant part of the Doomsday release strategy.
For moviegoers, that makes the screening format an important detail when booking. Premium experiences vary by cinema, including differences in screen size, projection and sound.
What Does $50 Million in Presales Mean?
Presales measure tickets purchased before screenings take place. They provide an early indication of demand, but they are not an opening-weekend result or a measure of profitability.
The eventual box-office performance will depend on further bookings, available screenings and audience response after release. Early demand can help cinemas plan showtimes, although it does not guarantee a particular final gross.
When Will ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Be Released?
Disney lists December 18, 2026 as the film’s theatrical release date.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Doomsday brings together heroes from three distinct universes facing a shared threat. The ensemble includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh and Patrick Stewart.
Disney’s official film page also features trailers and a ticket-sales announcement. Local cinema listings provide the available dates, formats and showtimes for each market.
