September 29, 2026 | ACCA International Casting News
Two new casting announcements are drawing attention across Hollywood. Netflix has selected the lead actors for its adaptation of Hannah Grace’s popular romance novel Icebreaker, while Landman actor James Jordan has joined the cast of horror sequel They Follow.
Netflix Finds Its Leads for Icebreaker
Netflix has cast Daisy Jelley and Connor Simos as the two central characters in its upcoming adaptation of Hannah Grace’s bestselling novel Icebreaker.
Jelley will play Anastasia “Stassie” Allen, an ambitious competitive figure skater aiming for Olympic success. Simos will portray Nate Hawkins, a college hockey player pursuing a professional career. The story brings the two characters together when circumstances force their teams to share the same ice rink.
The series is being developed by Jade Halley Bartlett, with Amanda Lasher serving as showrunner, writer and executive producer. Hannah Grace is also involved as an executive producer, alongside producers from Unwell Productions.
Why it matters for casting
The announcement gives two young performers major lead roles in a Netflix adaptation that already has an established international fan base through the original novel. The casting also shows how popular book properties continue to create significant opportunities for emerging screen talent.

James Jordan Joins Horror Film They Follow
Actor James Jordan, known for his work in Landman, has joined the cast of They Follow, the upcoming continuation of David Robert Mitchell’s 2015 horror film It Follows. His character has not yet been publicly revealed.
Maika Monroe is returning as Jay Height, the character she played in the original film. The expanding ensemble also includes performers such as Naomi Ackie, Jackie Earle Haley, Justine Lupe and Michael Gandolfini.
The new film continues the world established in It Follows, while bringing additional actors into the franchise around Monroe’s returning lead character.
Why it matters for casting
Jordan’s addition shows how actors can move between major television projects and feature films, while established franchises continue expanding their casts with both returning and new performers.
For actors, this is also a reminder that sequels and continuing franchises often create new roles beyond the original cast.

ACCA Casting Perspective
These two announcements show two different sides of modern casting: one production introducing new young leads in a major streaming adaptation, and another expanding an established film franchise with additional performers.
For actors, both stories highlight the importance of maintaining updated headshots, casting profiles, reels and professional credits, as opportunities can come from new productions as well as returning franchises.
