Microsoft Transforms Copilot from a Simple Chatbot into an AI Agent; Capable of Drafting Plans, Managing Budgets, and Analyzing Campaign Data
Until now, most of us have used Artificial Intelligence (AI) as an assistant; we ask it questions, request it to write texts, or have it analyze data. However, Microsoft is taking a new and major step: AI is no longer just a "responder," but is becoming a "task executor."
Microsoft has introduced the new version of Copilot with "Agentic" capabilities. This means the user only needs to provide a single goal, and Copilot will independently execute a series of consecutive steps to achieve it. For example, instead of a marketer first going to Word to write a product launch plan and then moving to Excel to estimate the budget, they can now give a single command to Copilot to both draft the plan and prepare the budget directly within Excel.
For marketing professionals, this development is even more exciting. Microsoft has announced that Copilot can pull campaign data directly into Excel, conduct Return on Investment (ROI) analysis, and ultimately prepare a summary of the results ready for presentation. Previously, Microsoft Advertising also launched the MCP system, which allows smart agents to access live advertising campaign data, check their performance, and conduct comprehensive campaign audits.
This is a fundamental shift. If until yesterday AI was merely the "marketer's assistant," the Agentic AI phase is moving it toward becoming the "task executor." This means that in the future, marketers will spend less time gathering data, preparing reports, and performing routine tasks, allowing them to focus entirely on strategy, creativity, and critical decision-making.
Despite all this, this advancement does not mean that AI will completely replace humans. It is still the human who must set the goals, define boundaries and budgets, make strategic decisions, and oversee the final results.
The big question facing marketing experts now is: If AI can draft plans, analyze data, and automatically execute a large portion of the work, what will be the main role of a marketer in the coming years?
